I“I grew up in a small town. My dad was a diesel mechanic. My mom worked in a factory and later became a nurse. I worked in the tobacco fields, became a police officer at 21, and served for 15 years. I also led a nonprofit to support those too often left behind.
While I worked full time, I went to school full time — earning an associate’s in criminal justice, a bachelor’s in political science, and a master’s in public administration.
I’m not a career politician. I’m a career public servant. And that’s the kind of leadership I’ll take to Congress.”
